A certified ABR with the US Navy, Miller Marine Inc., (CAGE CODE #0WFS8) is a full service repair facility based out of San Diego, fulfilling contract delivery orders nationwide in support of ship repair. By holding over 150 welding certifications, including 5 and 6 XXX aluminum, we have positioned ourselves to answer the Navy’s call for a high quality, resourceful partner as a Prime and Sub-Contractor.
Miller Marine is the US Technical Representative for SONATS/Empowering Technologies and their equipment to conduct UIT/Ultrasonic Needle Peening in the marine industry. Empowering Technologies has developed an unmatched system for fatigue life improvement through their trademarked STRESSONIC peening techniques and equipment. As the certified administrator for said technology, Miller Marine has completed and is in the process of fulfilling numerous contracts requiring the use of UIT.
Over the last several years NAVSEA has done extensive research on the application of UIT on moderately sensitized aluminum. This is commonly found on the super structure of the CG 47 ship class, throughout the LCS ship class, and on the Military Sealift Command’s EPF vessels. Since the inception of UIT acceptance, NAVSEA has worked closely with the Tech Warrant Holders and Chief Systems Engineers to perfect the identification of where, when and how to apply UIT, as well as what quality assurance requirements need to be implemented and how. Miller Marine has positioned themselves to answer this call by aligning with Empowering Technologies to be the ‘go-to’ service provider for UIT nationwide.
